Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) visited the ICAR-CIFE Centre, Kolkata today. He emphasised creation and facilitation of value chains in fisheries sector and stressed on training of stakeholders in related areas. He highlighted the important role of ICAR-CIFE as a nodal institute for delivery of technology through training programs.
Director General launched the online training programme on Culture of Pacific white shrimp Litopenaues vannamei and inaugurated the new Fish Quality Control laboratory on the ICAR-CIFE, Kolkatta campus. He released the CIFE-DO (Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit) developed by the Centre.
Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) appreciated the research work done by the centre.
Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director and Vice Chancellor, welcomed the dignitaries and briefed on recent achievements and activities of the Institute.
Dr. B.K. Mahapatra, Principal Scientist & OIC, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkatta made a brief presentation of the activities of the centre.
Dr. M. Krishnan, Head, Social Sciences Division, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai proposed the vote of thanks.
