Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums (IINRG, Ranchi) organized 3rd Technology Fortnight on Advanced Technologies on Natural Resins and Gums during 13-27th January, 2014.
Dr. S. Kumar, Head, ICAR-RCER, Ranchi Centre was the Chief Guest of closing ceremony. In his address, Dr. Kumar emphasized upon the need for promotion of Lac Integrated Farming System (LIFS) for higher profit. He said that integration of horticultural crops with lac cultivation will be helpful to supplement the income of farmers.
Dr. A.K. Jaiswal, Head and Convener of the function briefed about the activities of the institute. He informed that two master training programmes were conducted for the farmers of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand.
Dr. K.K. Sharma, Head, Lac Production Division and Dr. Niranjan Prasad, Head, Processing and Product Development Division, IINRG, Ranchi were also present on the occasion.
A Demonstration of Scientific Gum Tapping of Karaya Gum at Silli, Ranchi and a Scientist-cum-Industry Meet at Balarampur, West Bengal was conducted on the occasion. Two- day workshop on ‘Kusmi Lac Cultivation on Flemingia semialata’ was conducted at Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. Five number of ‘Kisan Goshthis-cum-Lakh Vishesygya Chale Gaon Ki Or’ were also organized in collaboration with forest department and Bayer Crop Science Ltd. India.
Farmers, master trainers, government officials, NGO personnel, industrialists, processors, traders, exporters, graduate and school students participated in the events.
