GEF Regional Workshop on Mainstreaming Agro-biodiversity Conservation Organized

A Regional Workshop on Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Project entitled ‘Mainstreaming Agro-biodiversity Conservation and Utilization in Agricultural Sector to Ensure Eco-system Services and Reduce Vulnerability’ was organized at CAZRI, Jodhpur on 05th February, 2014.

Dr. V Ramanatha Rao, Consultant, Bioversity International explained the concept of the project and actions needed.

Dr. Malavika Dadlani, Consultant, Bioversity International highlighted the rationale behind the baseline surveys. Dr. Dadlani also discussed on full proposal followed with a view to synthesize the baseline information gathered so far, additional information required and identification of grass root stakeholders, their roles and responsibilities.

Earlier, Dr. M.M. Roy, Director, CAZRI welcomed the participants and briefed about the importance of agro-biodiversity conservation in context of arid regions of the country.

Representatives from NBPGR, NRCSS, Agriculture University, Jodhpur; Department of Agriculture, Rajasthan; NGOs like GRAVIS (Jodhpur) and HPPI (Delhi) also participated in the workshop. Dr. Dipankar Saha, Senior Scientist, CAZRI coordinated this event.
