Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar celebrated Agriculture Education Day on 18th February 2014 with students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, CME, Dapoli, Pune.
Dr. Jai Gopal, Director, DOGR delivered the welcome address and explained the importance of agriculture and opportunities in this sector. He also briefed the role of research in improving agricultural productivity.
Dr. V. Mahajan, Principal Scientist delivered a talk on importance of onion and garlic and elaborated on various activities required for the cultivation of these crops. Scientists gave live demonstration of various agricultural operations and the technologies developed by DOGR. A quiz was arranged for students and winners were awarded. Students also expressed their views on the scenario of agriculture in India.
Over 160 students and teachers participated in the programme.
Dr. S. Anandhan, Senior Scientist and in-charge PME Cell coordinated the programme.
