A National Workshop on ‘Science, Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Envisaging the Interfaces’ was organized at Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Jodhpur on 10th January, 2014. The workshop was jointly organized by CAZRI and National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur.
Dr. S. Mauria, Assistant Director General (IP&TM), ICAR was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, He highlighted the necessity of understanding of various interfaces of Intellectual property. Dr. Mauria appreciated the collaborative effort of CAZRI and NLU for organizing this workshop.
Dr. M.M. Roy, Director, CAZRI and Convener of the event described future roles of the institute in the area of IPR management and its interfaces.
Prof. K.K. Banerjee, Director, IP Studies, NLU and Co-convener of the event highlighted the relationship of science and law.
Dr. Dipankar Saha, Senior Scientist and Organizing Secretary briefed about the philosophy for organizing the workshop with NLU while, Dr. Uday Birman, Principal Scientist and In-charge ITMU presented an account of ITMU activities at CAZRI.
Earlier, Dr. Sharmila Roy, Principal Scientist, CAZRI welcomed the dignitaries.
During the workshop, future possibilities of developing suitable platforms/networks for effective and judicious knowledge sharing and capacity building across the disciplines and institutions of the regions were discussed.
Teachers, scientists, students, administrators and policy makers from traditional and agricultural universities, IIT (Jodhpur), ICAR institutes, NLU, DST (Govrnment of Rajasthan) and Biodiversity Boards of Rajasthan and Gujarat participated in the workshop.
