A three-day (13th-15th September, 2013) training programme on integrated pest management on major crops of NE Region was organized by the National Centre on Integrated Pest Management (NCIPM), New Delhi in collaboration with the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region at ICAR Complex, Umiam.
In the Inaugural function Dr. S. V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, highlighted the importance of IPM in NEH region. In his lecture Dr. N S Azad Thakur, head, crop improvement, ICAR Research Complex for NEH focused on the present pesticide use scenario of the region. Dr. C Chattopadhyay, Director, NCIPM suggested appropriate measures for sustainable crop protection through IPM strategies. Dr. A K Gogoi, Zonal Project Director (ZPD), Zone III pointed out timely action and contingency planning for pest management.
over 45 farmers participated in training programme. Scientists from NCIPM, New Delhi, MSSRF, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and NBA II Bengaluru delivered lectures on various aspects of Integrated Pest Management.
