Shri S.J. Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister of Agriculture, Government of Odisha reviewed the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) of the Region and appreciated the KVKs for their excellent work for farming community of the state.He highlighted that the marketing of produce is the major challenge and there is need to focus on quality and bringing nutritional status for fetching good prices in domestic as well in the international market. A publication on ‘Technology Application and Dissemination: KVKs in Odisha’ was also released by Shri Mishra.
Prof. M.R. Kar, Vice-Chancellor, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) appreciated the efforts and hard work of KVKs for uplifting the livelihood of poor farmers in the state. He urged KVKs to increase the efforts for seed replacement rate and promotion of hybrid in vegetables.
Dr. Anupam Mishra, Zonal Project Director, Zone-VII highlighted the agricultural development priorities of Odisha in XIIth Five Year Plan. Dr. Mishra also presented the major technologies tested which are to be disseminated in the larger area during XIIth Plan.
Earlier, Dr. S.S. Nanda, Dean (Extension), OUAT welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the achievements of KVKs during XIth Five Year Plan.
On this occasion, Dr. T. Mohapatra, Director, CRRI, Cuttack and Dr.P.Jayasankar, Director, CIFA, Kausalyagang, Bhubaneswar briefed the on technologies developed by their institutes. Director Research, Deans of Colleges of OUAT, Programmes Coordinators and senior officials of University were also present in the meeting.
Dr.R.K. Raj, Joint Director, Extension proposed the vote of thanks.
