Dr A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agriculture Extension), ICAR presided over the plenary session of the Annual Zonal Workshop of Zone-V KVKs (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Maharashtra) here today.
In his address, reiterated the role of KVKs in doubling farm income and also highlighted Cluster Frontline demonstrations in Pulses and Oilseeds, distribution of soil health cards for farmers, attracting and retaining rural youth in agriculture. He also focused on allied sectors such as Horticulture, Livestock and Fisheries, knowledge sharing through ICTs and skill development training to farmers.
Earlier, Dr. B.M.C.Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Dr. YSR Horticulture University while inaugurating the Workshop on 2nd June, 2016 acknowledged the role of KVKs in serving frontline extension needs of the districts and bringing visibility to the State Agricultural Universities and research institutes.
Dr. Y.G.Prasad, Director, ATARI, Hyderabad presented the salient achievements of KVKs in Zone-V during 2015-16 and outlined the action plan for 2016-17.
Directors of Extension of ANGRAU, Dr. YSRHU, Dr. BSKKV, PJTSAU, SVVU, Directors of ICAR-CTRI, Rajahmundry & Director of ICAR-IIOPR, Pedavegi participated and reviewed the progress of KVKs in the workshop.
The new Building of KVK, East Godavari at Pandirimamidi was also inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG (AE), ICAR and Farmers Hostel by Shri Chiranjiv Chaudhary, IFS, Commissioner of Horticulture, Andhra Pradesh.
