Dr. Mangala Rai, Agriculture Advisor to Chief Minister of Bihar and Former Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR, New Delhi, inaugurated the Common Guest House at CIFE Campus Saltlake, Kolkata. Dr. Rai emphasized that in future, this Common Guest House will act as a gateway to facilitate development of science especially for the north-eastern and eastern region. Dr S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR appreciated the ambience, tasteful furnishing and the scenic beauty of the guest house.
Dr. N.K. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Director General (Horticulture), Dr. A. K. Sikka, Deputy Director General (NRM), Directors of the partner institutes and senior officials of ICAR were present on the occasion.
The Guest House has been constructed in partnership mode wherein the Kolkata regional centre of Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai provided the land, other ICAR Institutes viz. Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore; ICAR research Complex for NEH region, Barapani; Central Agriculture Research Institute, Port Blair and Central Agriculture University, Imphal provided funds for the construction of the guest house. The guest house will serve the needs of the ICAR staff of the north-eastern states, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and other states of eastern region. Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore played the lead role in the construction and furnishing of the Guest House.
The guest house comprising 2 VIP Suites and 6 deluxe rooms has been equipped with facilities of Wi-Fi, computers and all other necessary infrastructure. At the end of the Inaugural Program, the guest house was handed over to the Director, CIFE for initiation of its use.
