Dr. Charan Das Mahant, Inagurated Kisan Mela at KVK, Kalahandi, Orissa as the Chief Guest on this occasion. He emphasised to strengthen the market linkage of the produce by which ultimately the poor farmers can be benefitted. As Kalahandi has reached its production potentialities in crops like Cotton, Paddy and Maize, there is need to establish an agro processing industries in near future. Progressive farmers were felicitated Dr Mahanta.
Shri. Bhakta Charan Das, Member of Parliament, Kalahandi was the Guest of honour of the occasion. He focused to expand the irrigation channel by utilizing the water bodies of the district by which near about 2000 acres of land can be cultivated.
Shri. Dushmanta Naik, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bhawanipatna, Shri. Shivaji Majhi, Member of Legislative Assembly, Lanjigarh, Shri.Pushpendu Singh Deo, Member of Legislative Assembly, Dharmagarh, Shri. Gobinda Chandra Sethy, District Magistrate of Kalahandi, were presented as guest of honour of the occasion.
Presidential remark was delivered by Mr. Ranglal Jamuda, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) and Incharge Vice-Chancellor, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. He pointed out some outstanding work has been performed by KVK to the farming society.

Dr. Anupam Mishra, Zonal Project Director, Zone VII, Jabalpur said that a collaborative effort from line departments and KVK is much essential for the effective transfer of technology to the farming community of the district.
The Kisan Mela was organised in collaboration with Agriculture and Horticulture Department of Kalahandi. More than 700 farmers from all the blocks along with 200 officials of various line departments of agriculture, horticulture, watershed mission, soil and water conservation, veterinary office, agro based company, Self Help Group along with six KVKs of nearby districts Faculty of College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna, Scientists from RRTTS, Bhawanipatna and near about 40 media personnel (print and electronic) participated in the event
