Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) today concluded celebrations of Hindi fortnight to promote national language in CIPHET, campus. During this period, various competitions were held in which employees of institute participated in large number.
Taking a new initiative, CIPHET also honored journalists of a Hindi daily for promoting food processing technologies making people aware about value addition in food which does not reach the farmers. The names of awarded journalists included Rajesh Bhat, Kuldeep Kala, Deepak Selopal, Kuljinder Singh, Surjit Singh Saini and Pritpal Sandhu. Speaking on the occasion, Dr R.T Patil, Director CIPHET, said that hindi was one of unique languages of the world. “Even the person who had written first national anthem of Pakistan was from Hindi background,” he said, adding that they were making efforts that this language should be promoted at all levels in their institute.
“We would be awarding journalists from Hindi daily every year for promotion of agriculture and food processing through news articles,” he said. He also awarded winners of various competitions held during fortnight. The first prize winners included: Hindi computers “tankan” competition: Harbhopinder Singh, impromptu speech competition: Vishal Kumar, Hindi translation competition: Yashpal singh, One day poster competition (scientist category): Dr N.K Narsaia, (technical category ) Yashpal Singh, debate competition: Mukand Narayan, prayer competition: Sarop Singh, scientific debate: (scientist category) Dr Deepak Raj Rai, (non scientist category) Dr Mukand Narayan, Hindi noting and drafting competition: Ajay Kumar Tandon, poetry competition: Dr Mukand Narayan. Besides, Sohan Lal was given prize for working more actively in Hindi language. Mr. OP Sharma, Chief Manager, SBI, PAU was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Bhatnagar, Sh. Tej Ram and Sh. JS Paul coordinated the event all through 15 days
