Sri Jyotirmoy Kar, Minister of Co-operation, Govt. of West Bengal, Chief Guest of the event, complimented ICAR-CIFA for adopting the tribal beneficiaries of Amarpur village for demonstration of quality fish seed production through FRP hatchery and scientific aquaculture.

Sri Sisir Adhikari, Member of Parliament, Contai, stressed on the need of tribal community of the area adopting the technologies and take benefit of assistance provided by the State and Central government for their economic upliftment.

Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director, ICAR-CIFA emphasized aquaculture can improve livelihood of tribal community if quality seed, feed, medicine and market are available to the farmers. He requested the State government to initiate establishing a fish brood bank in the region for which technical guidance would be provided by CIFA.

Dignitaries jointly launched FRP carp hatchery unit and dedicated it to the tribal community of the Block.

Senior officials of, Panchayat Samity, Potaspur; Scientists of ICAR-CIFA and Govt. of West Bengal participated in the event.

More than 500 Villagers, majority of them tribals attended the function.
