A delegation from the Textiles Committee, led by Shri Kartikeya Dhanda, Secretary, and Shri Abhishek Sharma, Member, Textile Committee, Kolkata, visited the ICAR–National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata today.

During the visit, Shri Dhanda expressed his appreciation for ICAR-NINFET’s research, infrastructure, and innovative approaches. He lauded the institute’s dedicated efforts in addressing issues related to natural fibres, product diversification, and by-product utilization, while emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to promote sustainable growth of the sector.
The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, who guided them through the institute’s recently developed facilities, advanced laboratories, and innovative technologies in the natural fibre sector.
Following the visit, a high-level meeting was held with the participation of the Director, Heads of Divisions, In-charge PME Cell, and In-charge ABI-ITMU. The discussions focused on strategic areas including:
• Development of natural fibre processing plans
• Instrumentation for fibre processing
• Textile testing and quality evaluation
• Public–private collaborative initiatives for the textile and fibre sector

The meeting concluded with mutual assurances to strengthen partnerships between the Textiles Committee and ICAR-NINFET, with a shared vision of advancing natural fibre technologies and expanding their contribution to both national and international markets.
