ICAR-KVK Dhalai Honoured with Prestigious Zonal KVK Award by NAAS

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhalai, has been awarded the Best Zonal KVK Award 2025 by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi, in recognition of its exemplary contributions to agricultural development and rural transformation. The award was conferred during the NAAS Foundation Day celebrations, graced by eminent personalities including Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICRISAT, and Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Principal Advisor to NTEP and former WHO Chief Scientist.

The NAAS Zonal KVK Award aims to promote healthy competition among KVKs across India, recognize science- and technology-led agricultural innovations, encourage institutional excellence and inspire wider adoption of sustainable farming practices.

ICAR-KVK Dhalai was recognized for its outstanding performance in enhancing farmers' productivity, profitability, and livelihood security, youth skill development, entrepreneurship promotion, and self-employment generation, mobilizing external funding and effectively utilizing the revolving fund, promoting farmer collectives, group action, and knowledge-sharing initiatives and publishing quality extension literature and earning national and international recognition.

Serving the aspirational and remote district of Dhalai, Tripura, ICAR-KVK Dhalai has overcome geographical and infrastructural constraints to become a leader in agricultural extension. It has successfully bridged the gap between research and practice, introducing farmers to climate-resilient agriculture, integrated farming systems, and precision technologies.

By adopting a participatory and inclusive approach, the KVK has empowered tribal and marginal farmers, women, and youth, contributing to food security, rural entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.
These recognitions further validate the center’s impactful collaborations with local departments, NGOs, SHGs, and FPOs.

The Zonal KVK Award 2025 is a testament to KVK Dhalai’s unwavering commitment to scientific innovation, inclusive development, and the empowerment of India’s farming communities. It reinforces the institution’s role as a model KVK for others to emulate nationwide.
