ICAR-CIFE Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour

ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, along with its regional centres, celebrated the nation’s 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm.

Dr. N.P. Sahu, Director & Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, unfurled the Tricolour and addressed the gathering. Paying tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, he reflected on the nation’s remarkable progress in agriculture, education, health, and infrastructure over the past seven decades.

Speaking on the future challenges of nutritional security amid a growing population, Dr. Sahu underscored the pivotal role of the fisheries sector in addressing these concerns. He emphasized that as a premier educational institution in fisheries, ICAR-CIFE bears a special responsibility to develop skilled human resources capable of tackling emerging challenges in the sector.

Highlighting institutional achievements, he noted that ICAR-CIFE has been at the forefront of fisheries education, human resource development, technology innovation, and dissemination. He also outlined the institute’s recent initiative, “Academic Excellence and Student Entrepreneurship”, aimed at transforming students’ research into sector-oriented technologies and innovations.

Dr. Sahu reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of its students and commended the faculty, staff, and students for their contributions in making ICAR-CIFE a hub of deep learning and innovation.

The celebration witnessed the participation of Heads of Divisions, scientists, administrative and finance officers, students, staff, and their family members, making the event both solemn and spirited.
