Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General (Animal Science), ICAR, inaugurated the newly constructed Annexe Laboratory Building of ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Guwahati today in presence of Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta, Director, Scientists and staff of the institute. The new facility is expected to strengthen the ongoing research and development activities at the institute and further augment its capabilities in advanced pig production technologies.
On this occasion, Dr. Bhatta emphasized the need for integrated research efforts to support the piggery sector. During his visit, he toured the institute’s animal farm and reviewed the ongoing research and breeding programmes. He interacted with scientists and staff, appreciating their efforts toward genetic improvement, nutrition, and health management of pigs.

The event also featured the release of several publications and launching of web applications acknowledging the contributions of researchers at ICAR-NRC on Pig.
Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta also took the opportunity to interact with a group of pig entrepreneurs who have been supported and trained by the institute.
The event was attended by scientists, staff, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders associated with the institute. The inauguration of the new Annexe building marks another milestone in the institute’s continuous efforts to serve the piggery sector through cutting-edge research and outreach.
