ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Assam, completed a 5-day skill-oriented training programme on "Skill development and entrepreneurship in micro processing of fish, fruits and millet" from 28th November - 2nd December 2023.
Dr. Lohit Kr Baishya, Head (NRM) and scientist In-charge was the Course Director, Dr. Amjad K Balange, Head (APF) was the Training Coordinator.
Products of fish like pickles, cutlets, bhujia, snacks; fruit products like squash, jam, jelly, juice and millet-based cookies, cake, bhujia, and laddu were demonstrated and prepared.
Lectures and demonstrations of information regarding packing, sealing, bottling, labelling, marketing strategies, etc were also given to trainees. Three women progressive farmers were also felicitated for their active involvement in post-harvest practices and other allied sectors.
Around 50 farmers mostly women participated in the programme and they were trained to produce value-added products of fish, fruits and millet through training and demonstration.
