ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata celebrated International Women's Day to raise awareness about gender issues and promote positive change while acknowledging the ongoing struggle for gender equality today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Lopamudra Haldar, Professor & Head, Department of Dairy Microbiology, West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, highlighted the importance of behaviour change strategies to achieve gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow. She also reminded the responsibility of women in protecting their rights.
Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, emphasised the importance of collecting and analysing gender-disaggregated data to inform decision-making and monitor progress toward gender equality in financial access, participation, and outcomes. Dr. Dey stressed gender-responsive financing to address gender disparities in access to and control over financial resources as a fundamental aspect of advancing women's rights and achieving broader development goals.
A variety of performances were also organised for the Women employees with the Theme ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress’ followed by the prize distribution.
All Staff members of the Institute participated in the programme.
