The ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata organized the three-day Quality Improvement Programme on “Advances in Chemical Processing & Finishing Techniques of Natural Fibre Based Textiles” from 24th to 26th February, 2022.

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata highlighted the importance of Natural Fibres and its use at the national and global level. The different R&D activities in the area of chemical processing of Natural Fibres and its biomass carried out by the Institute were also underlined by Dr. Shakyawar.
Delivering the 8th Dr. P.B. Sarkar Memorial Lecture on “Sustainable Solutions in Textile Coloration”, Prof. (Dr.) R.V. Adivarekar, Professor, (Fibre Chemistry) & Dean (HR), Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, Maharashtra outlined the textile colouration and the various approaches for sustainable solution.
The Guest of Honor, Prof. (Dr.) Deepali Singhee, Principal, J.D. Birla Institute, Kolkata, highlighted the commendable research contributions of ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata to make over the various Natural Fibres to sustainable and essential products.
A total of 28 participants participated in the programme.
