115th FoCARS – Interactive Discourse on Work–Life Balance Organised

ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, organized an Interactive Discourse on ‘Work–Life Balance’ as part of the ongoing 115th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FoCARS). The session aimed to sensitize young ARS probationers to the importance of harmonizing professional excellence with personal well-being, emotional stability, and ethical values in public service.

Shri Ilango R, IPS, Assistant Director (SC), SVPNPA, Hyderabad, shared valuable insights from his administrative experience, emphasizing that work should be viewed as a divine duty. He discussed behavioural theories influencing job satisfaction, the Japanese concept of Ikigai, and various models of work–life balance. He also sensitized participants on cyber safety and digital well-being as crucial elements of modern professional life.

Shri Jagbir Singh, Additional Director General (Retd.), CISF, reflected on achieving success and contentment in professional service. He spoke on the importance of attitude, emotional maturity, and self-awareness, elaborating on David McClelland’s Competency Model and the Five-Factor Personality Framework as tools for professional excellence and leadership development.

The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from ARS probationers, who shared their reflections on emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and purpose-driven work culture.
