ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nadia (Additional), in collaboration with scientists from National Dairy Research Institute - Eastern Regional Station, Kalyani, observed World Environment Day 2025 at Arpara, with the active participation of students and farmers. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices under the global theme Beat Plastic Pollution.
Organized in convergence with the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025 as part of the Pre-Kharif Campaign, the programme highlighted the urgent need to eliminate plastic waste and adopt eco-friendly practices at the grassroots level.

Dr. S. K. Ray, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK Nadia (A), emphasized the long-term environmental hazards of plastic pollution, particularly its adverse effects on soil health, water bodies, livestock, and overall farm ecosystems.
Participants received pre-Kharif advisories and training on sustainable agricultural practices. The event concluded with a plantation drive promoting ecological restoration, where school students participated enthusiastically, reinforcing the message of environmental stewardship.
Over 350 participants, including 150 students and more than 200 farmers, took part in the programme, making it a successful step toward a plastic-free, climate-resilient rural ecosystem.
