ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai organized a 2-day training and Swachhta Programme at Gazipur Fish Market today in association with Gazipur Fish, Poultry, and Egg Committee, Delhi.
This ICAR-funded initiative was a part of the project titled ‘Swacchta Action Plan and Commercial Utilisation of Fish Waste in Urban Fish Markets,’
Dr. Ravishankar C.N., Director, ICAR-CIFE, and Dr. N.P. Sahu, Joint Director, ICAR-CIFE, were present during the programme.
The Swachhta programme included deep cleaning of the fish market by the cleaning marshals and CIFE team. Field Training for Fish Retailers/Wholesalers was conducted on ‘Preparation of Organic Manure from Fish Waste: FishANUre: A Do It Yourself Technology’ and ‘Digital Payment Transactions on Various Platforms for Enabling Clean Business’. Interactive discussions were held with fish retailers/wholesalers on fish marketing dynamics. Leaflets on FishANUre, a DIY technology for preparing organic manure from fish waste, and digital payment transactions were distributed to trainees in Hindi and English. Samples of FishANUre were also displayed.
Shri. Rizvan, President, Gazipur Fish Vendors Association, attended the programme alongside ICAR-CIFE team, fish retailers, wholesalers, and cleaning marshals.
The ICAR-CIFE project team conducted similar programs in over 10 urban fish markets in Mumbai and one fish market in Nagpur.
