Awareness Programme on Natural Farming Organized By KVK, Ri Bhoi

The ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya organized an “Awareness cum Capacity Building Programme on Natural Farming and Nutrition Gardening for Income Generation of Tribal Farmers” at University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, Baridua today.

The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Commerce, USTM and KVK, Ri Bhoi.

Dr. Abdur Rashid, HOD Deptt. of Commerce, in his brief introductory remark highlighted the activities of the department in uplifting livelihood of farmers though adoption under the social responsibility mode.

Dr. Mokidul Islam, Head, KVK highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the Govt. of India on promoting natural farming by project mode implemented through 425 Krishi Vigyan Kendras of India.

KVK, Ri Bhoi being one of those KVKs involved in disseminating knowledge and technical know how about natural farming may help in sustaining production and productivity of crops as well as protecting health of people by keeping away harmful effects of chemicals used in agriculture. Various key points of natural farming were discussed during the awareness programme.

The programme was attended by 76 farmers, farm women of Jorbil village adopted by the Department of Commerce as well as students of the Department
