Workshop on Modern Agricultural Machinery and Agro-Inputs for Productivity Enhancement and Integrated Crop Protection in Grapes and Horticultural Crops

A workshop on Modern Agricultural Machinery and Agro-Inputs for Productivity Enhancement and Integrated Crop Protection in Grapes and Horticultural Crops was organised at Taldangra, Bankura district, West Bengal. The programme witnessed active participation from farmers and stakeholders of the region and aimed at strengthening productivity and comprehensive management of insect pests and diseases in grapes and other horticultural crops.

The programme was a collaborative initiative of ICAR–National Research Centre for Grapes, Pune, and WBCADC Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonamukhi, under the facilitation of Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata.

Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR–NRCG, oversaw the distribution of small farm implements, biofertilisers, biopesticides, vermicompost, and other essential inputs to strengthen the capacity of around 400 beneficiaries, including approximately 280 male and 120 female farmers of the region. The support was extended under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) fund of the institute.

Senior scientists conducted hands-on training sessions on bio-intensive disease management practices to enable farmers to adopt sustainable crop protection measures and enhance the commercial viability of horticultural production.

The workshop was graced by dignitaries from the West Bengal State Department of Agriculture and Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards promoting mechanisation, improved input use, and sustainable horticultural development in the region.
