The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin, Kerala organized a Webinar on “Anti-Microbial Resistance in Fish” today.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR underlined the various initiatives taken by the ICAR in addressing the AMR. The National Action Plan to combat Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) was briefed by Dr. Jena. He also outlined the Network which has been named as the Indian Network for Fisheries and Animal Antimicrobial Resistance (INFAAR) and the Council’s role in creating it with the technical and financial support from FAO.
Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin highlighted the Institute’s contributions in tackling the AMR.
The Webinar organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence registered participation by a total of 170 participants from across the country and abroad representing the various Universities and Research Institutes.
