Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development, reviewed the ongoing research and developmental activities of the ICAR–Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, during his visit to Gandhinagar today.
Commending the institute’s efforts, Shri Chouhan highlighted the growing importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in crop diversification and their potential to enhance farmers' income. He urged the need for ensuring assured markets for raw materials used in herbal product manufacturing and emphasized focused work in the areas of natural farming, availability of quality seeds and planting materials, post-harvest management, and value-added product development.

The Minister also interacted with the scientists, expressing interest in their feedback on the recently conducted Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan campaign.
Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR-DMAPR, provided an overview of the institute's key achievements, ongoing initiatives, and contributions toward promoting medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) in Indian agriculture.
On the occasion, various herbal formulations such as powders, tablets, and other products developed by the institute were showcased.
The review meeting was attended by scientists and staff members of ICAR-DMAPR, who shared insights into the directorate’s contributions to the medicinal and aromatic plant sector.
