ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, in collaboration with the Rural Development Department, Government of Goa, organized a Training-cum-Awareness Program on “Khet Bachao Abhiyan: Balanced Use of Fertilizers and Sustainable Soil Health Practices” at Village Panchayat, Sal, Bicholim Taluka, North Goa, today.
The resource persons explained the objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan and highlighted the importance of soil-test-based fertilizer application, balanced nutrient management, the integrated use of organic manures, and natural farming practices for maintaining soil health and improving nutrient-use efficiency. During the program, Ragi seeds were distributed to members of the Women Self-Help Group under the Scheduled Tribe Component (STC).

The participants actively interacted during the session and expressed keen interest in adopting soil test-based nutrient management and sustainable farming practices to improve soil health and crop productivity.
The program served as an effective platform for creating awareness on balanced fertilizer use, soil health management, and environmentally sustainable agricultural practices among the farming community.
A total of 32 women farmers participated in the program.
