ICAR–Central Institute of Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow, organized a State-level Workshop on Mango Rejuvenation to promote restoration of productivity in aged and unproductive mango orchards through scientifically designed canopy reorientation protocols. With a significant share of old orchards in Uttar Pradesh, the workshop addressed a critical issue for the state’s mango growers.
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. T. Damodaran, Director, ICAR-CISH, underscored the importance of adopting canopy reorientation in elderly orchards. He stated that implementing CISH-recommended practices would enhance fruit quality, improve yields, and increase profitability for farmers.

The workshop included field demonstrations on rejuvenation techniques, post-rejuvenation care, nutrient scheduling, water management, and integrated pest and disease management. Demonstrations on safe and quality fruit production through fruit bagging were also conducted. Farmers’ queries regarding compliance with forest regulations were addressed by experts.
Industry partners such as MetaAgro Limited, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Stihl Pvt. Ltd. showcased their technologies and collaborative initiatives for mango growers.
Participants collectively reaffirmed their commitment to adopt and disseminate the rejuvenation technology, thereby strengthening sustainable horticulture in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The workshop drew 118 participants, including farmers, state horticulture officers, KVK scientists, and forest officials, representing nine districts: Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, Shahjahanpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri.
