ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun, has inaugurated a six-day training programme on “Water Conservation & Management for Climate Smart Agriculture” for officers sponsored by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Odisha.
Organized under the guidance of Dr M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, the programme aims to enhance the technical knowledge and practical competencies of participants in climate-resilient soil and water management practices. A total of 20 officers have been selected to undergo the training.
The inaugural session highlighted the critical importance of capacity building in water conservation and climate-smart agriculture to address emerging environmental challenges and ensure sustainable agricultural development.
The training programme includes a blend of classroom lectures, hands-on practical sessions, and exposure visits to field project sites developed by the Institute.
These activities are designed to provide participants with real-time insights into the implementation and evaluation of soil and water conservation interventions under diverse field conditions.
