Dr. Girish Patil S., Director, ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, along with other senior officials, interacted with the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, in Dimapur.
During the interaction, the ICAR team briefed the Minister on various initiatives and programmes undertaken by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote agriculture and animal husbandry in the North Eastern Region of India. Key interventions focused on enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, improving livestock productivity, and strengthening extension and outreach services were discussed.

The Minister engaged in detailed discussions on the challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland and underscored the immense potential of natural farming practices in the state. He appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutions working in the region and emphasized the need for continued scientific support and farmer-centric approaches to achieve sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.
