The ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata organized the “Scientists’-Women Self-Help Group Members’-Interface Meet” at Rathindra Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sriniketan, Birbhum, West Bengal today.
The Meet was organized in collaboration with the Rathindra Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Visva Bharati, Shanti Niketan.
Delivering the inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore emphasized on the advantages of Inland Fisheries for nutrition and income. The sustainability of the livelihood improvement programmes conducted through the ICAR Schemes at the field level was also outlined by Dr. Das.
The Meeting aimed at sensitizing the participants about the Inland Fisheries Management for livelihood and nutritional security registered participation by a total of 152 beneficiaries of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Community from 16 Self-Help Groups of Birbhum District.
