A Regional Sensitization and Capacity Building Workshop on “Kisan Sarathi: Content Creation, Dissemination and Advisory Services” for the KVKs of the Jammu region of Jammu & Kashmir was organized at KVK Jammu today. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders for effective utilization of the Kisan Sarathi platform in delivering timely and scientifically validated advisories to farmers.
Shri Amrish Vaid, Director, Extension Education, SKUAST-Jammu highlighted that Kisan Sarathi represents a significant shift from conventional agricultural extension approaches to digital extension services. He noted that while farmers traditionally visited KVKs for guidance and reassurance, the Kisan Sarathi app now facilitates the delivery of advisories through digital platforms, including in remote areas. Referring to Jammu’s diverse agro-climatic conditions ranging from sub-tropical to temperate zones, including rainfed and kandi regions he stressed the importance of location-specific technologies. He clarified that Kisan Sarathi complements rather than replaces the existing extension system and urged Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) and experts to ensure the dissemination of accurate and timely advisories to farmers.

Shri Punit Chaudhary, Head, KVK Jammu, emphasized the importance of effectively leveraging the Kisan Sarathi Expert App for advisory and call services to farmers. He encouraged participants to actively engage with the technical team and seek clarifications for optimal use of the platform.
During the technical sessions, the experts elaborated on the new features of the Kisan Sarathi Expert App. They explained the advisory workflow mechanisms, roles and responsibilities of experts, and the integrated video calling and conferencing functionalities. Interactive discussions enabled participants to gain clarity on the operational aspects of the platform.
A dedicated session on Kisan Sarathi Kosh focused on content standards, approval mechanisms, and demonstrated the process of content creation and dissemination. Emphasis was placed on ensuring the quality, relevance, and scientific validation of advisories. Participants were also provided hands-on training in developing location-specific and variety-wise advisories using KS Kosh, during which they actively drafted and refined advisories under expert guidance.

The workshop concluded with focused deliberations on strengthening digital advisory outreach and effective rollout strategies. The programme significantly enhanced the capacity of KVK stakeholders to improve farmer services through Kisan Sarathi 2.0.
