ICAR–National Research Centre on Pig, Rani, Guwahati, Assam, in collaboration with the Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI), successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Biotechnology Popularization and Skill Development for School Children” today.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness and ignite interest in biotechnology among school students. It featured a series of interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities designed to introduce key concepts in biotechnology and showcase career opportunities in life sciences, including veterinary and agricultural biotechnology.
Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta, Director, ICAR-NRC on Pig emphasized the importance of cultivating scientific curiosity from an early age and highlighted the pivotal role of biotechnology in addressing global challenges related to agriculture, health, and environmental sustainability.
Sessions were led by subject matter experts from the institute, who presented complex scientific concepts in a simplified and engaging manner tailored for school children. Their efforts ensured that the students could relate to and understand the real-world applications of biotechnology.

The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from more than 50 students from classes IX to XII, along with their teachers, representing various schools across Guwahati, Assam. This initiative provided an enriching platform for promoting scientific temper and enhancing skill development among young learners, contributing meaningfully to science outreach in the region.
