A need-based and skill oriented Model Training Course (MTC) on “Gender Perspective in Integrated Farming System” was organised by ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna from 17-24 January 2013.
Smt. Harjot Kaur, IAS and Managing Director, COMFED ((Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation Ltd.), Patna inaugurated the training programme. Smt. Kaur stressed upon gender equity and impact assessment of economic activities carried out by women in agriculture.
Dr. B. P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR RCER, Patna highlighted the productive role of women in agriculture. He shared the experiences of hills and mountains regions where maximum agricultural works are done by women. He also emphasised on the strategies of gender mainstreaming in policy and planning.
Dr. K. M. Singh, Head, Division of Socio-Economic and Extension appealed to the participants for the diffusion of the learning in real social settings.
The training emphasised on demand driven capacity building of extension and marketing managers of state development departments, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State Agricultural Universities.
Twenty five participants from State Department of Forestry, Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries and Subject Matter Specialists from KVKs got hands-on-learning experience through this capacity building programme. Visits of important technological sites like integrated farming system models, solar energy technology, fisheries and animal farm, weather station, phone-in-live programme etc. were also arranged for visibility of technologies. This training was sponsored by Directorate of Extension, DAC, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi.
Sh.S.S. Choudhary, IFS and Chief Conservator of Forests grace the valedictory function as Chief Guest on 24th January 2013. Dr. M. S. Meena, Senior Scientist, Agricultural Extension coordinated the training programme.
