Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, DDG (Education), ICAR and Dr. Jitendra Chauhan, Scientific Advisor to Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India visited the College of P.G. Studies, Umiam, Meghalaya (Central Agricultural University, Imphal) on the 29th of September, 2015.
A new laboratory of M4AgriNEI (Mobile for Agriculture in North-East India) project funded by DeiTY, MoIT, Govt. of India, in the college was inaugurated by Dr. Rathore on the 30th of October, 2015 in the presence of VC of CAU (Imphal), Scientific Advisor to union MoAFW, Dean, staff and students of college.
Dr. Rathore emphasized on the need and importance of innovations in teaching, research and education in agriculture. He mentioned the challenges in the complex, diverse and risk prone agriculture of North Eastern States of India. Students and staff of the college could share their scientific temper and learn a new impetus in education and entrepreneurship development in agriculture so that students become job providers but not job seekers.
Earlier, Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal welcomed the dignitaries.
Dean, staff and students of the College were present in the event.
