The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, His Excellency Shri B. L. Joshi inaugurated the 10th Agricultural Science Congress organised by National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Indian Council of Agricultural Research at the National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow today. The theme of the Congress is “Soil - Plant- Animal Health: Safety and Security”.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Sh. Harish Rawat, presided over the inaugural session of Agricultural Science Congress. More than 500 scientists, entrepreneurs, and policy makers and farmers are participating in the three-day meet.
The Director General of IRRI, Dr Robert S. Zeigler, Director General of CIMMYT Thomas A. Lumpkin, Dr R S Paroda and Dr Mangala Rai, former DGs of ICAR; DG, IRRI; DR R B Singh, President, NAAS and other distinguished scientists were also present on the occasion.
Latest advances in agricultural research and technology are showcased at the upcoming national congress on agricultural sciences in the exhibition `agrivision 2011'.
Special lectures and technical sessions in various thematic areas are expected to lead to logical conclusions and recommendations. The resultant policy formulation, research initiatives and development will help to enhance productivity, income, employment and livelihood security.
