National Research Centre on Meat (NRCM), Hyderabad collaborated as knowledge partner with Tamil Nadu Technology Development and Promotion Centre (TNDPC) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and conducted the Meat Tech - 2012 conference at Chennai.
Dr B S Prakash, Assistant Director General (AN&P), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) delivered the theme address in the event. He highlighted the strength and opportunities of Indian meat industry in the global scenario and expressed concerns regarding linkage between R&D institution and industries to resolve the problems for enhancing the productivity. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries would be making substantial investments to create a `Brand India’ for wholesome hygienic meat products and by-products, and to enhance the livelihood security of millions of livestock owners, he added.
A delegation of seven scientists participated in the Meat Tech conference and interacted with the delegates. Mr. Gavin Young, Consul General and Trade Commissioner, New Zealand Trade Enterprise, Mr. A K Srikanth, CEO Alchemist Foods (P) Ltd, Mr. C. P Mukundan Menon, Vice President, Blue Star Ltd and Mr. M Viswanathan, National Expert, UNIDO and other experts shared their experiences.
