National Webinar on “Microencapsulation of Nutraceuticals” organized

The ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering & Technology, Ludhiana, Punjab organized the National Webinar on “Microencapsulation of Nutraceuticals” today.

Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana briefed the participants about the rationale of the Technology Webinar Series and the Institute’s prominent technologies.

Dr. K. Narsaiah, Head, Agricultural Structures & Environment Control Division, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana highlighted the role of microencapsulation for preserving the potency of heat sensitive nutraceutical compounds found in spices and the different food materials. He stated that the Curcumin found in turmeric, garlic oil and fish oil, etc., can be encapsulated using the futuristic technique developed by the Institute as the technology will help in reducing the cost, handling issues and increasing the efficacy of the delivery system for high value food-based nutraceutical compounds.

The Webinar aimed at discussing the novel technologies developed by the Institute’s Scientists was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.

A total of 120 participants participated in the Webinar.
