Training on Backyard poultry farming for improving the livelihood of resource poor farmersICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati organized a training programme on “Backyard poultry farming for improving the livelihood of resource poor farmers” as part of Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) on 14th February 2017.

Dr Heena Gavit, Member of Parliament, Nandurbar constituency, in her address emphasized on integrated farming. She appreciated efforts made by NIASM for livelihood improvement of tribal farmers through integrated farming and urged tribal farmers to take up additional farming activities and to follow soil health assessment and soil health cards based fertilizers recommendations.

An exposure visit was organized at Jalgaon for more than 100 tribal farmers. Farmers expressed their happiness with the wide exposure related to precision farming and micro-irrigation systems, cultivation of tissue culture plants, agro-products including fruit juice and dehydrated onion.

More than 300 farmers participated in the traning programme.
