ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, organized a State Stakeholders Meeting on “Present Status of Fertilizer Consumption and Strategies to reduce its Application” today. The meeting brought together policymakers, scientists, academicians, extension personnel, and development agencies to discuss strategies for improving nutrient-use efficiency and promoting sustainable agriculture in Nagaland.
The programme was attended by Smt. Limanenla, Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland (GoN); Shri Sanuzo Neinu, Director, Agriculture, GoN; Dr Girish Patel, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun; Dr I. Shakuntala Devi, Dean, CoVS&AH, Nagaland; Dr Pauline Alila, Dean, SAS, Nagaland University; Smt. Rosemary Ezung, Joint Director, Directorate of Agriculture, along with scientists of ICAR Nagaland Centre, KVK heads, State Agriculture officials, officials from line departments, and other stakeholders.

Welcoming the participants, Dr H. Kalita, HoRC, ICAR Nagaland Centre, emphasized on right source, right dose and right time of application of fertilizers for sustaining agricultural productivity and protecting the environment.
Shri Sanuzo Neinu, underscored the importance of improving nutrient-use efficiency to ensure long-term food security, soil health, and farm profitability.
Dr Girish Patel, emphasized the importance of animal based integrated farming approaches in the hill ecosystems of Nagaland for nutrient recycling and sustainable agriculture.
