Dr. M.L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), interacted with nearly 900 online participants representing ICAR institutes, Central and State Agricultural Universities, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras. During the meeting, he announced the forthcoming Farmers' Interaction Program, to be conducted nationwide under the National Agricultural Research and Education System led by ICAR.
Addressing participants at a program held today at the ICAR–Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana, Dr. Jat informed that ICAR, in collaboration with all CAUs, SAUs and KVKs, will organise the Farmers’ Interaction Program on 19 November 2025.

The one-day initiative aims to gather and document the issues and challenges faced by farmers, FPOs, and custom hiring centers during Kharif harvesting and Rabi planting. It will also focus on creating awareness about key government initiatives such as the Pulses Mission, PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana, and efforts to promote Natural Farming.
Dr. Jat shared that an estimated 3 lakh farmers and stakeholders are expected to participate in this farmer-centric event. He also commended scientists, extension personnel, and both governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as the farming community for their collective efforts in significantly reducing crop-residue burning, particularly in north-west India.
