ICAR–National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, hosted the Curtain Raiser of Emerging Agriculture Technologies (EAT) under the Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025), marking the launch of a national initiative to accelerate innovation and technology integration in Indian agriculture. The event took place at the Dr. D. Sundaresan Auditorium and brought together senior officials, scientists, agro-industry representatives, and experts from ICAR institutions across the country.

Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary (DARE) & Director General, ICAR, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Deputy Director General, (Animal Science) ICAR, Dr. A. K. Nayak Deputy Director General, (NRM) ICAR, and Dr. S. N. Jha, Chairman, ESTIC-EAT & Deputy Director General, (Agricultural Engineering) ICAR were the Guests of Honour. The event was presided over by Dr. Dheer Singh, Director, ICAR-NDRI.
In his address, Dr. Jat emphasized the urgent need for science-led innovation to tackle challenges of climate change, sustainability, and food security. He noted that EAT under ESTIC-2025 would catalyze the convergence of engineering, biological, and digital technologies, focusing on precision farming, farm automation, and omics-based innovations, aligned with Atmanirbhar Krishi and the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Dr. Anil Rai, Assistant Director General (ICT), ICAR, presented an overview of the ESTIC-EAT initiative, emphasizing cross-institutional collaboration and technology dissemination. He noted that ESTIC represents India’s first joint platform integrating stakeholders from 11 scientific ministries and departments, connecting researchers, industry, academia, and government under a whole-of-government approach.
Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta stressed the integration of animal science with digital innovations for sustainable livestock development, while Dr. S.N. Jha highlighted the need for strategic, collaborative, and visionary efforts to translate agricultural innovations from laboratories to real-world applications, setting global benchmarks for sustainable, technology-driven food systems.

Dr. Dheer Singh highlighted ICAR-NDRI’s role in pioneering sustainable dairy and livestock technologies and announced that ESTIC-2025 will be held from 3–5 November 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, inaugurated by Prime Minister of India. The conclave theme is: “Imagine, Innovate, Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The event featured the release of the video ‘ESTIC–Emerging Agricultural Technologies’ by the Chief Guest, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries, reaffirming ICAR’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth in Indian agriculture.
