Under the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, ICAR–National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms organized a farmer awareness and extension programme at Vinodhpur village, Pardaha Block, Mau District, Uttar Pradesh, today.

During the training, experts from ICAR-NBAIM emphasized the significance of integrated nutrient management, regular soil testing for assessing soil health, and the application of microbial technologies to enhance nutrient availability and crop performance. The participants were informed about how beneficial microorganisms contribute to efficient nutrient utilization and sustainable crop production.

The programme included interactive sessions that enabled farmers to engage directly with scientists, discuss field-level challenges, and gain practical insights into modern agricultural technologies. These interactions helped strengthen farmers’ understanding of sustainable soil and crop management practices.

As part of the technology dissemination effort, participating farmers were provided with Bio-Phos, a microbial bioformulation developed by ICAR-NBAIM. Scientists explained its application and advantages, particularly its ability to solubilize unavailable phosphorus in the soil, thereby improving nutrient uptake and supporting better plant growth.

The programme aimed to educate farmers about the crucial role of beneficial microorganisms in improving soil fertility, enhancing crop productivity, and promoting environmental sustainability. It also focused on encouraging the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

A total of 31 farmers, including 25 male and 6 female participants, attended the programme.
