26 November 2025
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, is celebrated every year on 26 November to mark the adoption of the Constitution of India. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly formally adopted the Constitution, which later came into force on 26 January 1950, heralding the birth of the Republic of India.
The day pays tribute to the visionary leadership and democratic ideals established by the framers of the Constitution, led by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee. It serves as a reminder of the fundamental rights, duties, and constitutional values that uphold justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity across the nation.
ICAR institutes across the country observed Constitution Day 2025 by organising a range of activities including the reading of the Preamble, awareness lectures, discussions on constitutional values, and programmes promoting citizen responsibility. These initiatives reinforced the importance of the Constitution in guiding India’s governance and societal harmony.
