As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, the ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, organised a “Clean Green Festivities – Post-Event Cleanliness Advocacy Drive” today, in accordance with the campaign’s date-wise action plan.
An awareness talk was organised at the Millennium Hall of the Institute, focusing on inclusivity and social welfare as part of the observance commemorating the birth anniversary of a prominent national leader. The session was followed by field-based cleanliness and awareness activities on the Institute campus.
The programme particularly focused on composting flower waste and other offering materials and promoting zero-waste practices. A practical demonstration on flower-waste composting and zero-waste techniques was conducted at the vermicompost unit near the dairy farm of ICAR-CTCRI, highlighting sustainable approaches for the utilisation and management of biodegradable waste.
The programme witnessed active participation from staff members, students, research scholars, project staff, temporary staff and cleaning staff of the Institute. Their collective participation contributed to strengthening the objectives of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign and promoting sustainable cleanliness practices on the campus.
