14 November 2025, Hyderabad
ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, marked the concluding day of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada–2025 today with a series of activities honouring the cultural heritage, sacrifices, and contributions of India’s tribal communities.
The programme commenced with a formal welcome and an introduction highlighting the significance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh and its role in celebrating tribal legacy. As part of the nationwide observance coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, ICAR–CRIDA organised awareness campaigns, input distribution activities, and Farmer–Scientist Interface Meetings across four villages Garkhampet, Seethagondi, Malkapur, and Vaijapur in Adilabad district, Telangana.

During the sessions, farmers were sensitised to the importance of soil testing for effective soil health management. Scientists explained correct soil sampling procedures and emphasised the relevance of natural farming and integrated farming systems for enhancing sustainability in rainfed agricultural regions.
Improved seed varieties, including Green gram MGG-351 and Sorghum PSPY 2, were distributed to farmers. Demonstrations on the application of biofertilizers were also conducted, followed by the distribution of biofertilizer inputs.
A total of 150 farmers, including nine women farmers, participated in the programme, which aimed to promote sustainable practices and strengthen scientific engagement with tribal farming communities.
