9 June 2026, Hyderabad
ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized Save the Field Campaign 2026 (खेत_बचाओ_अभियान) in response to the call from the Government of India and ICAR, to promote balanced fertilizer use, soil health conservation, and natural farming among farmers.
Under this programme ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad organized an awareness campaign on Balanced Fertilization use and Soil Health Management on today at Aloor Village in Jadcharla mandal of Mahabubnagar district of Telangana.
The campaign focused on promoting sustainable soil and nutrient management practices for improving farm productivity while conserving natural resources.
Farmers were informed about the importance of balanced and need-based fertilizer application, with emphasis on reducing excessive dependence on urea and adopting integrated nutrient management practices that combine chemical fertilizers with organic sources and biofertilizers. Such practices help maintain soil fertility, improve nutrient-use efficiency, and promote sustainable crop production.

The significance of rainwater harvesting and in-situ moisture conservation in rainfed agriculture was also highlighted. Effective conservation and utilization of rainwater can improve soil moisture availability, reduce crop stress during dry spells, and enhance the resilience of farming systems to climate variability.
A hands-on demonstration on the use of biofertilizers was organized during the programme. Farmers were informed about the benefits of biofertilizers in improving nutrient availability, reducing fertilizer costs, enhancing soil and biological activity.
Total 50 farmers including 28 women farmers attended the programme.
