ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad Organises Skill Development Programme for SC Farmers on Enhancing Crop Productivity and Farm Income

28 September – 2 October 2026, Hyderabad

ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA), Hyderabad, organised a five-day residential Skill Development Programme on “Scientific Practices for Enhancing Crop Productivity and Farm Income” under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP)–National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ranga Reddy, from 28 September to 2 October 2026.

The programme aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and practical skills in scientific crop production, soil and nutrient management, water management, climate-resilient agriculture, weed management, crop diversification, farm mechanisation and natural resource management to improve farm productivity and income.

Dr J.V.N.S. Prasad, Project Coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project on Dryland Agriculture (AICRPDA), ICAR-CRIDA, attended as the Chief Guest, while Dr I. Srinivas, Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery and Power) and Officer-in-Charge, Bhuvan Research Farm, was the Guest of Honour.

Experts from ICAR-CRIDA and KVK Ranga Reddy conducted technical sessions on scientific agronomic practices, soil health, integrated nutrient management, improved crop varieties, seed management, weed and water management, climate-resilient agriculture, farm mechanisation, pulse and oilseed production, natural farming, integrated farming systems, post-harvest management and farm economics. The programme combined classroom sessions with practical demonstrations, field visits and hands-on training.

The valedictory programme was held on 2 October 2026, with Dr D.B.V. Ramana, Officer-in-Charge, GRF, ICAR-CRIDA, attending as the Chief Guest. Shri Ravi Nath, Mandal Agriculture Officer, Yacharam Mandal, and Shri Murthy Guru, Agricultural Extension Officer, Chodurpally Village, attended as Guests of Honour. Certificates were distributed to all participants.

The programme benefited 25 Scheduled Caste farmers, strengthening their capacity to adopt climate-resilient, resource-efficient and profitable agricultural practices for enhanced crop productivity and farm income.
