In a significant step toward integrating advanced technologies into coastal agriculture and allied sectors, ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Business Kendra, a Kerala-based tech venture specializing in sensor-based IoT and machine learning solutions.
Under this collaboration, sensor-driven decision support tools developed by Business Kendra and its partners will be evaluated, calibrated, and optimized by ICAR-CCARI. These tools aim to deliver real-time insights, automate field operations, and address critical challenges in coastal ecosystems, thereby enhancing agricultural, fisheries, and allied practices in resource-constrained coastal regions.

Highlighting the initiative, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, emphasized the importance of AI and automation in transforming Indian agriculture, aligning with the national vision of becoming a global leader in AI-enabled agriculture by 2047, as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. These technologies are expected to boost productivity, address labour shortages, conserve resources, and make farming more appealing to the youth.
The Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU) was recognized for facilitating this strategic partnership.
This partnership marks a forward-looking effort to embed digital transformation at the grassroots level of Indian agriculture.
