7 October 2025, New Delhi
A German delegation visited the ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, to explore opportunities for Indo-German collaboration in green energy, sustainable farming, climate-resilient technologies, and global food security.
A meeting chaired by the Director, ICAR–IARI, was held to deliberate on joint research initiatives and partnerships in these areas. The delegation also reviewed the activities of the Centre of Excellence for Agri-Photovoltaics (CoE–AgriPV) and visited the AgriPV site established at ICAR–IARI.

The CoE–AgriPV, jointly led by ICAR–IARI, New Delhi, and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Gurugram, is an initiative approved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, and supported by GIZ India.
Research under the CoE–AgriPV focuses on assessing the suitability of solar photovoltaic (SPV) systems on cultivated land, monitoring power generation, shading effects, and spectral reflectance variations from crop canopies. It also includes evaluating crop growth and yield under different shading conditions, optimizing AgriPV design parameters for improved energy efficiency and crop performance, validating system designs for key crops, and conducting cost-benefit analyses for sustainable implementation.
The visit reinforced the shared commitment of India and Germany to advancing sustainable agricultural innovations and integrating renewable energy solutions for a greener, resilient future.
